Compare iPhone X vs Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus
Apple and Samsung have been contenders in the smartphone world for the longest time. With their counterpart models offering great specs and features, choosing one is an uphill task.
Here is a comparison of iPhone X vs Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus for users who are deciding between the two models.
Design, Display and Screen
After removing the bezels around the screen, the Apple device looks quite similar to Samsung. The Samsung S9 Plus sports very thin bezels and the design looks sleeker with a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display screen. Apple has a slightly different approach with the 5.8 inch OLED screen stretching right to the ends with one notch for the camera and the speakers.
Display with the Samsung device offers a superior 2960X1440 resolution while the iPhone X offers 2436X1125 pixel resolution.
Performance and Operating System
The Apple iPhone X runs on the Apple A11 Bionic chipset while the Samsung S9 comes with the choice of Samsung Exynos 9810 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. The former has a 3GB RAM while the latter sports a 4GB RAM.
Both devices come with a 64GB or 256GB built in storage option. With the Samsung Galaxy S9, however, you can expand the memory up to 400GB with an external microSD card.
Camera
Both devices come with a 12MP front camera with optical image stabilization. They differ in terms of the lenses. The dual lens on the iPhone X allows better framing options and more low light performance.
Zoom versatility is lesser with the Samsung S9 Plus as it only has one lens. However, the variable mechanical aperture in this device allows better low light photography.
Other features
Wireless charging is an option available with both devices. The glass panel on the back of the iPhone feels a lot better and is more visually appealing.
There is no headphone jack with the iPhone X which means that you will require a lightning adapter. The headphone jack is still available with the Samsung S9.
The speakers in the Samsung S9 are extremely interesting. They are front facing and are tuned by AKG. They also support Dolby Atmos for a surround sound effect. However, the sound quality of the iPhone X has been rated as better because the sound is richer and is free from noise even with high volume.
Samsung panels feature more vibrant colors while Apple opts for warmer hues that are visually quite comfortable. The Samsung Galaxy S9 is more resilient that its competitor. It is waterproof up to 1.5 meters of immersion for 30 minutes. However, the iPhone X will survive only a 1meter immersion for this period of time.
As for the price point, Samsung is available for £739 for the 64GB model and £869 for the 256GB model. Apple devices are priced at £999 and £1149 respectively.
Overall, both devices perform impeccably and have several unique features that makes them favorites in the smartphone market.
