Samsung Galaxy S10 vs S10 Plus vs S10e

23 April 2019

Samsung has come up with the tenth generation of its famous and successful Galaxy series with three powerful phones- Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy S10e. The Galaxy S10e is the most affordable and compact of the bunch; the Galaxy S10 is the standard flagship, and the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is the biggest and most premium phone in Samsung's lineup.

These phones have some things in common, including the latest Snapdragon 855 processor, but there are some pretty big differences across the board.

Price

The first basic difference is in the cost. The Galaxy S10e is the most affordable with 799$, the Galaxy S10 costs 899$ while the Galaxy S10 Plus costs a whopping 999$.

Display and Camera

The S10 features a 6.1-inch display, three rear cameras and a single front-facing camera. The S10 Plus is a bit larger with a 6.4-inch screen. It, too, has three rear cameras, but Samsung added a second 8-megapixel front-facing camera. S10e has a slightly smaller 5.8-inch screen and only has dual rear cameras and, like the Galaxy S10, a single front-facing shooter.

Battery life and Power Share

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus boasts of a powerful battery of 4100 mAh, while S10 has 3400 mAh and S10e has a smaller capacity with 3100 mAh. And accordingly, the battery life of each varies with 9:41, 10:19 and 12:35 hours per minute for Samsung Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10 Plus.

All three Galaxy S10 phones offer Samsung's new PowerShares feature, which lets users charge other phones or Samsung's new Galaxy Buds wirelessly. One just needs to place the other handset or buds on the back of the phone.

Colour options

The Galaxy S10, S10e and S10 Plus come in a variety of colours, including Prism Black, Prism White and Prism Blue, as well as Flamingo Pink (except in the U.K.) and Prism Green (except in the U.S.).

The Galaxy S10e also comes in Canary Yellow, but not in the U.S.

For those who wish to splurge, the S10 Plus comes in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White. however, these special editions are only available for the top-end 512GB or 1TB models.

RAM and Storage

On the Galaxy S10e, you start with 6GB of RAM but can opt for 8GB, and you can choose from 128GB or 256GB of storage. The Galaxy S10 comes with 8GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage. The S10 Plus tops out at 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage — a first for smartphones.

Fingerprint in the screen

The Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus feature a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor embedded in the display, which should make it a cinch to unlock these phones. This feature is not available for S10e.  In Galaxy S10e, the sensor is embedded into the power button on the side of the phone.

Final verdict

After learning about these phones, it is easy to draft a clear image of the three phones from Samsung Galaxy S10 series. If you are seeking a compact phone without sacrificing on performance or paying a big price, the S10e will be most suitable for you. Get a regular Galaxy S 10 if you want a big screen, fingerprint reader in the display and a third rear camera for ultra-wide shots. Buy yourself the fancy S10 Plus if you are willing to splurge on the best of the display, battery, RAM and storage along with a second front camera.
